The Bedford Regional Medical Center provides a 24-hour Emergency Department capable of handling medical trauma emergencies, and a 24-hour Emergency Medical Service that is able to respond at a moment's notice to any and all types of life-threatening injuries. Qualified physicians and nurses are always on duty with the technology and equipment needed to respond to emergencies. Since 1997, the emergency department has been staffed by Unity Physician Group and all physicians are certified or experienced in Emergency Medicine. A team of trained and experienced nurses provide patient care and interventions for a wide range of services according to the needs of our patients or community. The BRMC Emergency Services is committed to providing quality patient care and working together with all the community organizations for the safety of the community.
The Emergency Department has ten exam-treatment areas and is located on the south side of the hospital with separate walk-in and ambulance entrances. The Emergency Department is located adjacent to Intensive Care and Radiology in the hospital. Some of the services include:
- 10 bed Emergency Department
- qualified and professional physicians
- professional nursing staff with Advanced Life Support Training and Pediatric Life Support Training
- nursing staff trained in Trauma Resuscitation
- support personnel in registration and nursing
- critical pathways for emergency management of thrombolytics for the cardiac and stroke patient
- emergency equipment including defibrillators, cardiac monitors, trauma cart, cardiac cart, pediatric cart and disaster cart
- membership with the Indiana Poison Center
- heliport pad on site for helicopter transfers
- The Emergency Department is available when you need to seek emergency treatment. We are committed to preventing heart and stroke complications and encourage early interventions and calling an ambulance if you experience symptoms of a heart attack or stroke.
