Bedford Regional Medical Center's oncology program was established in 1988. It has been accredited by the American College of Surgeons since 1995.
Our oncologist is board certified in oncology and hematology. Our nursing staff have completed an intensive chemotherapy/biotherapy course. We participate in clinical trials under Methodist Hospital's research umbrella. Therefore, offering our patients the cutting edge in the treatment of cancer.
We have a cancer registry program with a certified registrar who tracks our cancer statistics and follows our cancer patients. Monthly tumor boards are held where all disciplines can participate in discussion and treatment planning for cancer patients.
OSCAR (Oncology Symptom Control and Research) Program
Bedford Regional Medical Center is privileged to offer our cancer patients the OSCAR program. This stands for oncology symptom control and research. Patients with pain, fatigue and depression participate in clinical trials related to quality of life issues.
